The who’s who of the South African mining sector went ahead and signed the framework agreement for sustainable mining last week, without waiting any longer for the stalling Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union, and in so doing provided a potentially formidable bulwark against any errant behaviour during the upcoming wage talks, which begin this week.
