Prominent Hill restarts

PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Mining operations at the Prominent Hill copper mine, in South Australia, are progressively resuming following a fatality over the weekend.

ASX-listed Oz Minerals on Tuesday told shareholders that the staggered resumption of surface operations began on Monday afternoon and, following discussions with crews, underground operations are progressively resuming.

Department of Energy and Mining and SafeWork SA approved resumption of operations on Monday morning.

Operations were suspended over the weeneked following a fatality of an underground contractor, who was fatally injured at the mine site. Oz Minerals and mining contractor Byrnecut are working with authorities on the incident investigation.
