Components supply service supported by maintenance

South African power generation company Vert Energy’s components supply service for electromechanical power generation in the mining industry is supported by repair and maintenance facilities on the African continent, the company notes.

“It is important, especially for mines in isolated locations, to have a secure and efficient power supply and a reliable support facility,” Vert Energy MD Grant Robertson says, adding that, for this reason, Vert Energy’s on-site service offering is well received, particularly by companies in remote areas.

Vert Energy’s field services include inspection and fault finding, as well as the refurbishment and repair of most types of generators.

Robertson says the company’s technicians have the expertise to assist with inspections, diagnostics and repair procedures, reassembly, installation and commissioning, as well as the implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance programmes.

When it is not possible to do repair work on site, it is undertaken at Vert Energy’s Johannesburg workshop or at a certified repair facility in Africa.

Further, apart from the company’s 24-hour assistance in any emergency electromechanical breakdown or repair situation, Vert Energy also offers a customised preventive and emergency maintenance programme, designed to reduce the downtime of prime-power or standby generators.

“Proactive maintenance management not only increases reliability of a system but also upholds consistent procedures and schedules and maintains the factory warranty coverage of every component,” Robertson says, pointing out that the company uses original spare parts and acces- sories that meet stringent original-equipment-manufacturer specifications.

Meanwhile, preventive maintenance for diesel engine generators also reduces long-term operating costs and ensures the extended service life of the system. By following diesel maintenance procedures and a manufacturer’s recommendations, the risk of failure on critical power applications during start-up is reduced.

Vert Energy is the authorised sales and support partner of electric power generation (EPG) company Leroy Somer in Southern Africa and carries a full range of genuine spare parts for low- and medium-voltage Leroy Somer alternators.

The company’s EPG range includes Leroy Somer alternators, generator controls from control solutions provider DEIF and Covrad heat exchangers.

Spare parts, such as diodes, varistors and automatic voltage regu- lators are readily available and complement the full range of alternators, ranging from 20 kVA to 2 000 kVA, which are carried in the Johannesburg warehouse.
