Petra pays South African, Tanzanian govts $23.1m in taxes, royalties

LSE-listed Petra Diamonds’ total payments to governments for the financial year ended June 30, amounted to $23.1-million.

This is lower than the $25.6-million paid to governments in the 2018 financial year.

Petra paid the South African government about $15.41-million in taxes and royalties for the year under review.

The company owns and operates the Cullinan, Finsch and Koffiefontein mines in South Africa.

Taxes and royalties paid to various entities in Tanzania, where Petra owns the Williamson mine, amounted to $7.7-million.
