Project developer Peak Rare Earths has announced the appointment of Nick Bowen as a nonexecutive director.

Bowen has extensive experience in the construction, development and operation of international mining projects. He has spent more than 35 years with ASX-listed construction and contract mining companies operating in Australia and overseas.

His previous roles include 12 years as MD of Macmahon Holdings, two years as executive global head of mining services with Orica and nine years as MD of mining contractor Eltin.

Bowen has also held the head executive role at the Lubambe copper mine, in Zambia, and the Sishen iron-ore mine, in South Africa.

Executive chairperson of Peak, Russell Scrimshaw, said Bowen had a stellar career in large-scale mining, contracting, engineering and construction. “This experience will be invaluable for Peak as we progress the Ngualla rare earth project through development.”

The Ngualla project, located in Tanzania, contains one of the highest-grade and lowest-cost neodymium praseodymium rare earth deposits in the world.
