Established in 2014 through the merger of South Africa’s two leading industrial packing solution entities, PackSolve is the largest diversified industrial packaging group in the Southern African Development Community.

The company, which has an order book of R200-million, offers clients a full turnkey industrial packaging solution service using a variety of materials, including timber, plastics, steel, paper and strapping. Clients benefit from the company’s purchasing power and its ability to minimise risk factors, such as industrial relations and insurance risks.

With management experience of over 60 years in the industrial packaging arena, PackSolve’s competitive advantages are economies of scale, purchasing power, regional operations, fully outsourced solutions, flexibility in solution design and innovation and technology that is at the forefront industry trends.

The Johannesburg-headquarters of PackSolve, situated in Alrode, has a turnover of approximately R235-million a year, employs 500 full-time staff and operates a fleet of 30 to 40 vehicles. The company also has offices in Middelburg, Mpumalanga and Saldanha, the Western Cape.

Shareholding in the business is structured: 35% held by private equity, 35% by black economic-empowerment partners and 30% owned by management.

Sustainability is a primary focus area for PackSolve and the company has recycling solutions in place for all paper, steel and plastics through its ISO management systems. The timber used is from a sustainable source and is regulated by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

PackSolve – Outsource Packaging, which delivers crating solutions, boasts ISO 9000, ISO 14000 and OHSAS 18000 certification, while the company’s other two divisions are on a management role out plan to achieve certification in 2015 and 2016.
