Sudan officially exported 34.5 t of gold worth over $2-billion last year. Mubarak Ardol, general-director of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Limited, has confirmed that official exports have ground to a halt, while processing equipment has been damaged, and the headquarters of several gold companies looted.
