South Africa experienced its worst spate of load-shedding since 2008 in April and the early statistical releases in May suggest that the country’s electricity constraint is really starting to hurt. It was also a leading contributor to yet another unhappy downgrade, to 2%, of the country’s 2015 growth outlook by the International Monetary Fund.
