Northern Star appoints new nonexecutive director

PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold major Northern Star Resources has appointed Marnie Finlayson as an independent nonexecutive director, effective from October 1.
 
Finlayson is a senior executive at diversified miner Rio Tinto and holds the position of MD for battery minerals. Prior to her current role, Finlayson was GM of Rio Tinto Minerals’ Jadar operation in Serbia and before that held senior operational and executive positions in Rio Tinto’s iron-ore business.
 
Finlayson holds a Bachelor of Engineering – Minerals Engineering and Extractive Metallurgy (Hons) from the Western Australian School of Mines at Curtin University in Kalgoorlie.
 
Her appointment brings the number of directors on the Northern Star board to eight, of whom seven are nonexecutive.

“[Her] knowledge as a minerals engineer with international experience in the management of significant projects will be particularly valuable as the company advances delivery of our five-year growth plan, which is structured to generate superior returns from our world-class assets.”
