Gold miner Newcrest Mining has announced two changes to its board of directors: the appointment of Sally-Anne Layman and the retirement of Xiaoling Liu.

The company says Layman, who will join the board as nonexecutive director on October 1, brings mining and corporate finance experience to the organisation, having spent 14 years with Macquarie Group in a range of senior positions and prior to that in various positions with resources companies.

Liu will retire from the board as nonexecutive director immediately after the annual general meeting on November 11.
