The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) has invited stakeholders to provide written comments on the issues raised in the consultation document concerning the development of the strategy for a gas, renewable energy and hydrogen partnership in South Africa.

The consultation document is intended to assist Nersa in soliciting stakeholder views and perspectives on the prospects of achieving a coordinated development of gas alongside renewable energy and hydrogen in the country’s energy markets.

In particular, this consultation seeks insights into the current realities for gas in the evolving energy transition environment.

It also explores the related opportunities and challenges that may be critical to charting the strategic path forward for further development of the gas industry in South Africa, Nersa outlines.

The consultation document and a supplementary annexure providing background research are available on the Nersa website.

The closing date for the submission of comments in January 13.

Interested stakeholders can submit written comments to Nersa at pipedgas@nersa.org.za; or Nersa Executive Manager: Piped-Gas Regulation at PO Box 40343, Arcadia, 0007.
