New Partnership for Africa’s Development (Nepad) CEO Dr Ibrahim Mayaki is to launch a Web-based portal on which information about one of the African Union’s (AU’s) flagship mandates, its Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA), will be stored and through which it will be managed.

At the forty-seventh Nepad Steering Committee meeting, in Addis Ababa, Mayaki stated that the portal, which would be called the Virtual PIDA Information Centre (VPiC), was to be officially launched by Senegalese President and Nepad chairperson Macky Sall and AU chairperson Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma at the Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee (HSGOC) meeting in the Ethiopian capital.

The VPiC will be a collaborative effort between Nepad, the Africa Development Bank and the AU Commission.

The Steering Committee is made up of African leaders, who are members of the Nepad HSGOC.
