Natalka mine, Russia

Name of the Mine
Natalka mine.

Location
The Natalka deposit is located near the town of Omchak, in the Tenkinsky District of the Magadan, in north-east Russia.

Mine Owner/s
Polyus.

Brief Description
Natalka is Polyus’ second-biggest production asset. It is a large-scale, openpit operation, which uses conventional drill-and-blast and truck-and-shovel mining methods.

Brief History
The Natakla mine was commissioned in 2008.

Primary Metals/Minerals
Gold.

Secondary Metals/Minerals
None stated.

Geology/Mineralisation
The Natalka mineralisation is hosted in carbonaceous sediments, principally black shale. The main mineralisation zone is developed within the volcanogenic-sedimentary sequence. The gold demonstrates a complex distribution. The gold grade in the mineralisation is correlated with the intensity of veining and brecciation, as well as the quartz and the sulphide content.

Reserves
Total proven and probable reserves as at December 31, 2020, were estimated at 258-million tonnes grading 1.7 g/t gold.

Resources
Total measured, indicated and inferred resources as at December 31, 2020, were estimated at 524-million tonnes grading 1.9 g/t gold.

Mining Method
A conventional shovel-and-truck, openpit operation.

Major Infrastructure and Equipment
The mine includes a mill with a capacity of more than 11-million tonnes a year.

Prospects
Polyus has completed the flash flotation roll-out, along with a new carbon-in-leach line commissioning at the Natalka mill.
