Mobile screening plant proves highly efficient

MOVER AND SHAKER The McCloskey S250 is one of the largest mobile screens on the market

Earthmoving equipment supplier HPE Africa’s McCloskey S250 screener – one of the largest tracked-mounted mobile vibratory screening plants available – has been designed for highly efficient aggregate material screening.

“The McCloskey design team focuses on the development of machines that can be moved easily from site to site to boost productivity, with no compromise on efficiency or safety,” explains HPE Africa McCloskey product manager Rasheel Sukdhoe.

“Features of the S250 screener include a quick on-site set-up time of about 15 minutes, a convenient remote-control tipping grid and integrated hydraulic folding stockpiling conveyors. This machine delivers all the power needed for maximum production, with the use of a 165 kW CAT engine.”

With the McCloskey S250 being one of the largest mobile screens on the market, it is ideal for contractors who need to move the machine often. “While larger operations would usually purchase a static plant that is designed to handle large capacities, mobile machines are ideal for startup mines or quarries, or in-pit crushing and screening,” Sukdhoe notes.

The heavy-duty, high-energy, two bearing three deck screenbox is side-tensioned, delivering more true screening area with 6 710 mm by 1 830 mm on the two upper decks and 6 100 mm by 1 830 mm on the bottom deck.

This system is available in double or triple-deck models, with 900-mm-wide side conveyors and 800-mm-wide auxiliary conveyors for higher material flow. The auxiliary conveyor features rollers, rather than sliding plastic, and a solid frame for reduced friction and thus greater efficiency.

The hopper, with a maximum capacity of 10 m3, has a large grid opening, allowing for the use of larger loading shovels. All conveyors are now individually controlled for material flow speed and rollback. The hydraulic screenbox linkage system provides accessibility for efficient screen change and enables optimum screen coverage at varying screenbox angles.

The power unit has also been simplified for easy access during maintenance and services.
