JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Mining has started at Aim-listed Weatherly International’s Tschudi copper project, in Namibia, with the project on track to produce its first copper in the second quarter of next year.
“In recent weeks, we have continued to make significant advances with the development of the plant, especially the leach pads. We have now agreed timescales for the commissioning of the solvent extraction and electrowinning (SX-EW) plant and the crushing and agglomeration plant,” Weatherly chairperson John Bryant said.
The commissioning of the SX-EW plant was scheduled for the first quarter of 2015, while the placement of ore and its irrigation with sulphuric acid was expected to begin in January.
