Gold miner Perseus Mining has reported that an employee of a mining contractor had been killed at its Yaouré mine, in Côte d’Ivoire, on June 24.

Alohou Didier Leon Hamed had been employed by EPSA Group.

"We express our deepest sympathies to Mr Hamed’s family, and both Perseus and EPSA are providing support to help the family through this difficult time.

"Perseus is also offering support to our entire team at Yaouré as they come to terms with this tragic loss of a colleague," the company noted in a June 27 statement.

ASX- and TSX-listed Perseus has started an investigation into the incident and is consulting with the relevant local authorities.
