Local mill manufacturer sets sights on Africa

IIT TWIN MILL The second-generation m-series twin mill has been developed for the grinding of a range of minerals and materials of different hardness to fine particle sizes of -10 µm

Following the launch of an upgraded version of its patented m-series vertical milling system last year, UK-based fine grinding equipment manufacturer International Innovative Techologies (IIT) is now trying to expand its sales and distri- bution network into Africa.

IIT MD George Ord tells Mining Weekly that it is in discussion with potential sales agents for distribution into Africa, as the company is “encouraged by the market opportunities provided by the mining and other sectors throughout Africa”.

“Our aim is, therefore, to expand our sales network into Africa as soon as possible,” he notes.

IIT also recently made sales agency appointments for the Belgium and Spain/Portugal regions, with further appointments to service Australia in the pipeline.

Meanwhile, the introduction of the energy efficient m-series follows the first m-series – introduced in 2010 for use in the glass- reinforced-plastic and glass-recycling markets – and incorporates a range of technical features for high-yield powder-milling applications.

The upgraded, rugged and durable m-series mill system is available in a range of modular grinding options, which include twin-mill and vertical multistage grinding configurations to meet the requirements of different materials, particle-size requirements and throughput volumes.

The mill is a relatively low-cost, small-size alternative to a conventional ball mill installation and is suited to site installations where the use of traditional mills cannot be justified.

Ord notes that a complete minerals handling and processing solution can also be provided by combining the m-series mills with the c-series of classifying equipment for accurate particle-size distribution and the s-series of cyclones for efficient powder separation.

The mill, which has been developed for the grinding of a range of minerals and materials of different hardness to fine particle sizes of –10 µm, also incorporates several features designed to reduce wear caused by hard materials and to eliminate the dangers of contamination.

These features ensure that the mill is suited to the fine grinding of a wide range of minerals, raw materials and industrial products, including aluminium oxide, bauxite, calcium carbonate, limestone products, silicon carbide, high-purity quartz, zirconia and metal oxides, as well as fly ash and different types of slag.
