PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Diamond miner Lucapa Diamonds has recovered another ten special diamonds from its Lulo project, in Angola, including diamonds weighing 57.76 ct and 50.08 ct.

To date, since August this year, the mine has delivered 24 special diamonds, including 22 from mining operations, and a further two recovered from preliminary bulk sampling.

The average size of the diamonds recovered to date is 29.34 ct.

Lucapa recently secured A$12.5-million in financing to advance mining operations at Lulo, allowing the miner to source additional earthmoving equipment to scale up the alluvial diamond mining operations beyond the current 20 000 bulk cubic metres a month. The additional fleet would allow Lucapa to feed the 150 t/h diamond processing plant from two separate alluvial areas to optimise volume delivery.
