Latest Aquadam product ‘virtually resistant to damage’

The Rhino tank is a bolted steel tank covered with an epoxy coating

Water storage solution specialist Aquadam has expanded its range by adding what it believes is the toughest water storage product on the South African market – the Rhino tank.

The Rhino tank is a bolted steel tank covered with an epoxy coating, which is “virtually resistant to on-site damage”.

“The global market for a stronger, more durable water storage product is growing exponentially. “The mining industry, in particular, has extremely high expectations in this field,” says Aquadam mining and industrial specialist Willie Palm, adding that the Rhino tank is guaranteed to exceed expectations in terms of strength and product performance.

The Rhino tank’s epoxy coating is thermally bonded to steel panels in a two-coat process and fused to the surface at about 280 °C. The coating is available in virtually every colour and once applied, it does not ever require repainting.

The latest Aquadam product is suited for a variety of storage requirements. It can store liquids with a pH range of 2 to 11 and up to a temperature of 60 °C.

The Rhino tank is among the products that Aquadam will exhibit at its stand in Hall 5 of this year’s Electra Mining Africa. Other products specifically aimed at the mining and industrial markets include its precast concrete reservoir, the Muleby system tank and its zinc/aluminium-coated steel tank, the Future tank.

At the show, the company will also promote its Smart tank, a corrugated steel water storage tank, and its Gunite dam, a seamless concrete reservoir.

The Muleby system tank was developed in Europe and Aquadam manufactures it locally under licence. The Rhino, Future, Smart and Gunite products were developed for Aquadam by a professional engineer and are also locally manufactured.
