An employee was killed in a shaft-related incident at Harmony Gold's Kusasalethu mine, near Carletonville, on Friday.
An investigation into the incident is under way, the gold miner reported on Monday.
“We are extremely saddened by the loss of our colleague. We wish to express our deepest condolences to the deceased employee’s family, friends and colleagues,” said Harmony CEO Peter Steenkamp.
