PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Saracen Mineral Holdings has suspended operations at its Carosue Dam operations, in Western Australia, following a "serious incident" at the Dervish mine.

The ASX-listed miner reported that an underground worker had fallen from height.

A full investigation into the incident has been launched.

The miner last week announced that it had beaten full year production expectations for the 12 months ending June, producing 520 41 oz of gold, with the Carosue Dam operation contributing 203 281 oz in the full year.

Saracen has requested an immediate halt to the trading of its shares on the ASX.
