Iamgold announces departure of CFO

Midtier miner Iamgold on Friday announced the departure of Daniella Dimitrov, CFO and executive VP strategy and corporate development.

The company's current VP of finance, Maarten Theunissen, has been appointed interim CFO, and a search is under way for a permanent CFO.

"We would like to thank Daniella for her commitment and dedication to Iamgold and wish her the very best in the future. Maarten is an extremely capable and experienced finance professional and I am looking forward to working directly with him as we continue to advance the financing plan for Côté,” said board chairperson, interim president and CEO Maryse Bélanger.

Theunissen has more than 15 years of progressive experience in the mining industry, including serving as VP finance of Iamgold. Prior to joining the company, hew as CFO for a Canadian junior gold producer and senior VP of finance of one of the world's biggest uranium producers.

Theunissen is a chartered accountant (designated in both South Africa and Canada) and began his career with KPMG, where he was a manager in their mining group.
