Hydromine Projects, which was established in 1994, is a supplier of mine water reticulation technology and equipment, specifically valve technology and piping fabrication.

The company’s main products include NGDTM isolating, safety, control valves, energy dissipaters and expansion joints, HydrocoreTM isolating, non-slam non-return valves, pipe couplings and IT DN50 relief valves, U-CONE and TRU tapered pipe couplings, THERMCOM plain-ended shaft column couplings, NGDTM and HMP strainers, pressure reducing stations and heavy-duty hose reels, as well as HMP air release, ball, butterfly, diaphragm, gate, globe, non-return and pinch valves.

Hydromine Projects offers system design and project management services, and reconditions most valve makes. The company also supplies, fabricates and installs piping material and systems.

Hydromine Projects turns over R30-million a year and has big listed mining companies, such as Impala Platinum (Implats), Aquarius Platinum, Anglo American Platinum, AngloGold Ashanti, Gold Fields, Sibanye and Harmony Gold on its books. At Implats 14 Shaft, the company has a contract for valve supply and piping fabrication, as well as installation of valves and piping on the pumpstation. At the same, platinum producer’s 11C Shaft, Hydromine Projects has the contract to install fridge plant piping, pumps, valves and coils. The company recently supplied Harmony Gold’s Kusasalethu mine and Aquarius Platinum mine with service and potable water pressure reducing stations.

The firm has a current order book value of about R14-million. Hydromine Projects operates from 1 400 m2 premises at 48 Angus Crescent, Longmeadow Business Park, Edenvale. It employs 24 full-time staff and 15 part-time staff.
