Hybrid renewable energy power system

South Africa based Lindon Corporation has diversified into the power systems market with integrated renewable energy power containers in collaboration with leading Scottish system designer Motive Group.

The systems are designed and built to suit customer needs, the working environment, load demand and location specific requirements. Benefits include a cleaner and, in the long-term, cheaper alternative to highly polluting and expensive-to-maintain diesel generators. Systems can be deployed as either a permanent power fixture, as supply for remote projects or backup in the event of power outages.

The power containers require maintenance and servicing every second year as opposed to the constant monitoring and maintenance required on traditional diesel gensets. This reduces maintenance costs and the need to deploy personnel into challenging environments - resulting in lower operational costs while helping to offset carbon emissions.

The containers have a 25-year design life and use small-scale wind turbines and solar photovoltaics (PV) panels that have been successfully deployed across the globe for over 30 years. Additional technologies can also be integrated within the container, as systems can be designed specifically to the needs of the application. The modular power systems can be inter-linked, allowing operators to expand the capacity as load demand increases.

The units are a safe alternative to traditional solutions and are fully certified to international standards. Integrating renewable technologies, including small-scale wind turbines and solar PV, the power containers combine all control systems, battery bank and remote monitoring within the fully integrated system. Each container is designed based on project and client needs, with the systems sized appropriately to meet each client’s energy profile.

Lindon’s power systems are specifically designed to support rural electrification, can operate as a fully contained mini-grid system thereby also supporting projects such as telecoms, construction, marine and remote access sites that are difficult to support with grid power.

The power containers also offer an option for providing storage of goods, spare parts and tooling, while being fully secure to mitigate potential theft. Setup time is between three to five hours depending on site conditions.

Lindon Corporation also provides small (under 50 kWh) battery power systems for home and office applications as well as large (>1.8 MWh) scalable vanadium flow battery power storage systems with up to ten hours discharge times for industrial and power utility applications.
