Gold miner Harmony Gold reports that an employee was killed in a fall-of-ground incident at its Kusasalethu mine on the afternoon of December 15.
The fall of ground was the result of a seismic event.
“We are deeply saddened by this loss. We extend our condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased,” comments CEO Peter Steenkamp.
The relevant authorities, as well as the family members of the deceased were informed of the incident and a comprehensive internal investigation is currently under way, the company reports.
