Glencore Coal celebrates women pioneering change this Women’s Month

With their long-standing history of supporting communities and businesses, mining giant, Glencore Operations South Africa’s Coal division has taken it upon themselves to nationally launch an initiative that will support women and women-led organisations who have gone beyond the call of duty during these trying times.

Women have been known for pioneering change and stepping up to the plate for many years now and decades later we cannot say we’ve done enough to honour women and the work they’ve done in and around our communities. This initiative is our way of showing that we see the work that is being done and give women the recognition they deserve for powering through these tough times.

“South Africa has a rich history of women who have pioneered great change that benefits all South Africans to this very day. Therefore, it is important to encourage and acknowledge women and women-led organisations for the work they’re doing, knowing that it will bring progress for this generation and the generations to come.” Said Gracious Maswanganyi, Glencore Coals Stakeholder Manager.

The main aim for the Glencore Women’s Month campaign is to honour and showcase the women and their phenomenal work in our communities. These women will get a chance to share their stories on social media which will gain public interest into their initiatives. There are a lot of women in South Africa who are doing amazing work and we believe that by creating exposure of this work, we afford an opportunity for progress together.
