Gearbox manufacturer enlarges range

Radicon, a supplier of standard, modified standard and custom-engineered gearboxes, will exhibit a number of its products at this year’s Electra Mining Africa exhibition.

The UK-headquartered company, which has a local distributor, will display its worm gears, geared motors, industrial reducers, screwjacks and couplings, along with custom-built gear units and drop-in gear unit replacements at the exhibition in Johannesburg.

Radicon, whose sister company Benzlers recently enlarged the size of its geared motor range, will also be introducing a new planetary range of units and integral motor option for its range of geared motors.

The company’s products are designed to accept IEC motors and are dimensionally interchangeable with major European brands.

Since November 2010, Radicon has been part of the Elecon Enginering Group of companies, Asia’s largest gear manufacturer, with manufacturing plants in Thailand, India and Sweden. It has stocking and service centres in the UK, Sweden, Netherlands, the US, Thailand and India. The entire Elecon group currently employs over 6 000 people.

Companies operating in the mining, steel, power generation, sugar, cement, ports, food and beverage and pulp and paper industries are among the Radicon’s main clients.

In South Africa, Radicon’s products have been in use for decades, sold through its previous owner The David Brown Group. Radicon retains the intellectual property rights for its current products and also for all its legacy products.
