Canada-based miner Fortuna Silver Mines has achieved a new gold production record, with its five mines in West Africa and Latin America producing a combined 128 671 gold-equivalent ounces (GEOs).

This is a 38% increase compared with the second quarter and a 26% improvement on the same production a year earlier.

The NYSE- and TSX-listed firm produced 94 821 oz of gold and 1.7-million ounces of silver during the three months under review.

Gold production jumped 47% quarter-on-quarter, owing to Séguéla’s first full quarter of production and steady operating performance across all mines. Séguéla, in Cote d’Ivoire, contributed 31 498 oz during its first full quarter of production.

Yaramoko, in Burkina Faso, contributed 34 036 oz. The mine’s strong production was a result of higher average gold grades, leading to an upward revision in the mine’s 2023 production guidance to 110 000 oz to 120 000 oz.

The Lindero, San Jose and Caylloma mines, in Latin America, also showed steady performance, positioning the company to achieve its production guidance range of between 282 000 oz and 320 000 oz of gold and between 6.3-million and 6.9-million ounces of silver.

Its GEO target for the year is to produce between 412 000 oz and 463 000 oz.
