PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold junior Empire Resources has started trucking ore from its Penny’s Find gold mine, in Western Australia, to a second processing mill.

The company on Tuesday announced that the latest arrangement would see ore hauled from Penny’s Find to the Lakewood toll milling facility, on the outskirts of Kalgoorlie.

The mill has the capacity to treat up to 15 000 t of Penny’s Find ore during the month of September.

The Lakewood mill treatment agreement was in addition to the existing ore treatment agreement in place with Maximus Resources at its Burbanks toll milling facility, at Coolgardie.

Up to 150 000 t of ore from Penny’s Find will be supplied to the Burbanks gold treatment plant.

“The opportunity to simultaneously access two toll treatment mills was quickly assessed and found to be viable, given our ore production schedule. To date, more than 20 000 t of ore have been produced from the Penny’s Find openpit,” said Empire MD David Sargeant.

“With openpit mining now accessing the higher grade part of the orebody and ore being simultaneously processed through two mills, this provides an excellent window of opportunity for Empire to optimise its maiden gold production, given the current high gold price of more than A$1 600/oz.”
