There is little question that the South African Reserve Bank is correct to use the tools at its disposal to ensure that inflation does not get out of control. However, there is increasing scepticism over whether the bank’s recent response to the spike in inflation is sensitive enough to the country’s growth problem, the absence of which is taking South Africa to the junk brink.
