Top US and Chinese economic officials, led by Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Vice Premier Liu He, held a face-to-face meeting in Zurich last month, where they pledged to improve communication as a way to avoid more serious confrontation. “We’re certainly seeing more engagement between the US and China,” the International Monetary Fund’s Gita Gopinath told Bloomberg Television at the World Economic Forum in Davos. “These meetings are critical.
