PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Construction has started at the Norseman gold project’s processing plant, in Western Australia, after project partners Pantoro and Tulla Resources obtained all the necessary approvals.

The joint venture (JV) partners said on Wednesday that the old processing plant had been demolished and site clean-up has been completed, with the site now prepared for immediate construction.

Some 65 000 t of gold-bearing ore was recovered from the foundations of the old processing plant and has been placed on the run-of-mine for processing.

Tulla executive chairperson Kevin Maloney said that the construction of the new processing plant at Norseman marked an exciting milestone for the company on the path to resume production at the project.

Norseman produced more than 5.5-million ounces of gold since 1935 and is considered one of the highest grade, large scale gold projects in Western Australia. The project currently has a mineral resource of some 2.3-million ounces and an ore reserve of 357 000 oz.
