TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Integrated North American coal technology and fine coal recovery company Coalview on Monday announced that it had appointed Roger Fish its new president, CEO and director, with immediate effect.

He succeeded the company’s lead investor and founder David Schwedel, who had served as Coalview’s interim president and CEO. Schwedel would remain as executive director to the company.

“We’re thrilled to have Roger on board; he has a successful career within the energy industry, and has always been at the forefront of applying the latest technologies and applications in the coal industry. Roger’s experience and leadership will play a pivotal role to the continued growth of Coalview’s business as we expand globally,” Schwedel said.

Fish brought more than 25 years of experience within the energy industry, managing large teams, leading project development and construction, as well as managing both domestic and international large-scale commercial and coal mining operations.

For nearly a decade, he held various leadership positions at TransAlta Corporation, including mine engineering director, mine director, director of North American mine operations, and most recently as the director, commercial operations.

Fish had earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Mining Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines.

Coalview specialises in the application of technologies that allow for the removal and processing of waste materials, and the company has a proprietary sample-extraction technique, an in-house laboratory, and plant design and operating techniques to handle entire projects from start to finish.
