PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Kingsgate Consolidated has announced the first gold pour at its newly restarted Chatree gold mine, in Thailand.

The company on Friday reported that 155.73 kg of gold was poured this week.

Chatree was officially reopened earlier this month, and Kingsgate subsidiary Akara Resources is working on the full commissioning of the second plant, including using stockpiled ore already on the run-of-mine pad, and starting the rehandle contract to process the stockpiled ore.

Work to ramp up the second plant to full capacity will also be undertaken while Akara has started the initial refurbishment on the first plant.

Kingsgate was forced to place its Chatree gold mine on care and maintenance at the start of 2017, after the Thai government in 2016 announced that all gold mining in the country would cease.
