Aim-listed integrated primary vanadium producer and energy storage solutions provider Bushveld Minerals has appointed Michael Kirkwood as interim chairperson, following incumbent Ian Watson’s retirement.

Watson’s retirement became effective as of Bushveld’s annual general meeting (AGM) on August 8.

Watson served Bushveld for ten years as director.

Going forward, Bushveld is undertaking a formal search to identify a prospective chairperson, with the expectation that a suitable candidate will be ratified and inducted prior to the 2023 AGM.

Watson says it has been a “great honour” to serve as chairperson over the past decade and to witness the significant evolution of Bushveld over that time.

“I am proud of what has been achieved and confident in the continued growth of the company. I thank the board, the CEO and the executive team for its commitment and support during my tenure and wish them all the very best for future progress and success.”

CEO Fortune Mojapelo says Watson was the inaugural chairperson for Bushveld when the company listed on the LSE’s Aim market ten years ago.

“During his tenure, the company has undergone significant growth, transforming from an early-stage exploration company into a significant vertically integrated vanadium producer. We wish him well and thank him for his service and leadership,” he says.
