PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Developer Iron Ore Holdings (IOH) has been given the environmental nod for the development of its Bungaroo South iron-ore mine, in Western Australia.
The ASX-listed company reported on Friday that Western Australian Environment Minister Albert Jacob had signed off on the Bungaroo South mine, including the associated infrastructure and haul roads, subject to certain environmental conditions.
The eight-million-tonne-a-year Bungaroo South mine forms part of the larger Buckland project, which included the potential for additional production from other Buckland deposits, a new 200 km sealed haul road and a 20-million-tonne-a-year port at Cape Preston East.
The remaining outstanding approvals, leases and licences for the Buckland project would likely be secured by the second quarter of the year, IOH said.
