Bovu Pumps

Local dredging specialist Bovu Pumps, which distributes heavy-duty auto self-priming pumps to the African mining, power generation and water purification sectors, also sells, leases and repairs pumps and earthmoving equipment, and provides several related services, including dredging, dam cleaning, industrial cleaning, desludging, dewatering, high-pressure cleaning, civil construction services, pipe jacking and high- density polyethylene pipe welding.

Established 16 years ago, Bovu Pumps distributes several brands, including Selwood, Pioneer, Bell and Ultratrex.

Bovu is also the sole supplier of Bovu slurry pumps in Africa, which run at 550 rpm to 970 rpm – all wet ends feature 28% chrome steel.

These pumps can handle solids from 6 mm to 150 mm in size, flow from 30 m3/h to 4 000 m3/h and head from 2 m to 350 m.

The 100% black economic-empowerment company, which has a staff complement of 84, has been awarded several contracts in the past six months, including the cleaning of an irrigation pond at State-owned power utility Eskom’s Matimba power station, the cleaning of a lake and the disposal of sludge from Eskom’s Komati power station and the cleaning of an oil skimmer plant at Eskom’s Majuba power station.

Bovu Pumps also leased pumps to Eskom’s Duvha power station and was commissioned by Anglo Navigation to clean a slurry dam and by Richards Bay Minerals to dredge a dam.
