Bissa-Bouly mine, Burkina Faso

Name: Bissa-Bouly mine.

Location: The Bissa mine is located about 85 km north of Ouagadougou, in Burkina Faso. The Bouly mine is located about 5 km of the Bissa mine on the border of the Sabce and Mane rural communes.

Mine Owner/s: Bissa Gold, which owns the Bissa mine and Bouly deposit, is 90%-owned by Nordgold, through the company’s 100% stake in High River Gold, and 10% by the Burkina Faso government.

Brief Description: Bissa is an openpit gold mine, with an estimated mine life of ten years.

Brief History: The Bissa mine was launched in January 2013.

Nordgold expanded the Bissa mine, with the launch of a heap-leach operation at the nearby Bouly deposit in September 2016.

Products: Gold.

Geology/Mineralisation: The Bissa group permits are underlain by volcano-sedimentary rocks on the north-east edge of the Boromo greenstone belt, part of the extensive lower Proterozoic Birimian greenstone belts of the West Africa craton. More particularly, the Bissa Hill deposit is located within the Sabce shear zone, a regional structure that extends for more than 30 km on the property. Gold mineralisation is associated with sulphide mineralisation and quartz veining hosted in a strongly altered, deformed sedimentary package. The main zone of mineralisation forms a north-east-trending tabular body steeply dipping to the north.

Reserves: Total proven and probable reserves for Bissa as at December 31, 2017, were estimated at 43.77-million tonnes grading 1.4 g/t gold.

Total proven and probable reserves for Bouly as at December 31, 2017, were estimated at 101.38-million grading 0.52 g/t gold.

Resources: Total measured and indicated resources for Bissa as at December 31, 2017, were estimated at 64.41-million tonnes grading 1.41 g/t. Inferred resources were estimated at 8.47-million tonnes grading 1.36 g/t.

Total measured and indicated resources for Bouly as at December 31, 2017, were estimated at 206.94-million grading 0.55 g/t gold. Inferred resources were estimated at 58.36-million tonnes grading 0.59 g/t gold.

Mining Method: Openpit.

Major Infrastructure and Equipment: The mining operation features carbon-in-leach and heap-leaching technologies for gold processing.

The Bissa mine shares much of its existing infrastructure with the Bouly mine, including camp and mess facilities, the laboratory and raw water reservoir (Toben dam).

Prospects: None stated.
