BHP shuts iron-ore operations after fatality

PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Diversified miner BHP has reported a fatality at its rail yard in Port Hedland.

The company said on Wednesday that its Western Australia Iron Ore operations have been suspended for a period of 24 hours following the incident.

The site incident management team has been activated, and police have attended the scene. BHP said that it is working closely with the relevant authorities and will also undertake a full investigation to understand what has happened.
