PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Coal developer Cokal is on track to produce its first saleable coal from its Bumi Barito Mineral (BBM) mine, in Indonesia, in September this year.

The company is planning to start mining at BBM at the end of July.

Cokal on Friday told shareholders that development of the Krajan Jetty is nearly 90% complete, while the coal stockpile area, fuel tank storage and other jetty facilities were already in place.

The haul road from the Krajan Jetty to Pit 3 has also been upgraded and is scheduled for completion later this month.

Cokal holds a 60% interest in the BBM project, which covers 14 980 ha. Cokal has environmental approval to mine at a rate of up to six million tonnes a year, with the mining licence valid for 20 years, with a further two extensions of ten years each.
