TSX-listed B2Gold has its first positive case of Covid-19 at its operations in Mali.

The company on Thursday reported that an employee at the Fekola exploration camp had tested positive for the virus, but said that the nearby mine remained Covid-19-free and that operations at the gold mine were continuing at full capacity.

B2Gold has isolated the entire exploration group in the Fekola exploration camp and completed contract-tracing for anyone the individual may have come into contact with on site or within the community.

It has also started a full isolation process of all staff at the mine. Both camps are also being thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

The individual who tested positive is in quarantine at the exploration camp and is being monitored by company doctors and the local Kéniéba Health Authority. B2Gold noted that the employee was in stable condition with only moderate symptoms.
