A subsidiary of construction and engineering giant Aveng Group, Aveng Moolmans is an opencast contract mining company that offers a variety of services to clients across Africa’s surface mining industry.

From short-term waste mining and bulk earthmoving to a complete and long-term mining solution, Aveng Moolmans’ range of services for the mining industry includes drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, ore rehandling, bush clearing, grade control drilling and mine planning, as well as all the necessary support functions.

The company’s most recent contracts include Nkomati, a joint venture between the South African subsidiary of the Russian nickel and palladium mining and smelting company Norilsk Nickel and South African diversified mining and minerals major African Rainbow Minerals, to work on the Mpumalanga-based Nkomati nickel mine, which is located near Machadodorp, 300 km east of Johannesburg.

Aveng Moolmans has also received contract extensions to continue its work on Australian uranium company Paladin Energy’s Langer Heinrich uranium mine, in Namibia, as well as at Tati Nickel Mining Company’s Phoenix nickel mine, in Botswana.

Established in 1950, Aveng Moolmans is 100%-owned by Aveng Africa.

The company boasts an OHSAS 18001 certification and an ISO 9001 accreditation, and currently has a staff complement of 4 200.

Aveng Moolmans is located at 2 Merlin Rose avenue, Lancaster Commercial Park, in Parkhaven, Boksburg. Its site area, which is owned by the holding company, covers 55 980 m2.
