Aurcana curtails output after rock movement

Vancouver-based Aurcana Silver has scaled back production and development activities at its Revenue Virginius mine, in Colorado, after a rock movement event.

The rock movement happened in the #2 Alimak Raise, which provides access to and from the stoping level for people and material, as well as ore handling.

The event will temporarily limit underground production as vertical transportation capacity has been cut by 50% until the #1 Raise, which is the long-term primary conduit for people and materials, is fully operational.

Aurcana says work on the completion of the #1 Raise hoist will be completed, but that other development activities have been temporarily halted.

Owing to the work curtailment, the company has also provided notice to employees and says it will only retain personnel consistent with its current objectives.

Aurcana has not provided a production guidance.
