Aim-listed lithium miner Atlantic Lithium founder and former CEO Vincent Mascolo has been posthumously shortlisted for the Mining CEO of the Year Award.

Mascolo passed away unexpectedly in March this year.

Atlantic executive chairperson Neil Herbert, who thanked the Mines and Money London 2022 Conference organisers for the nomination, said the nomination was “a testament to all the great work of [Mascolo]”.

“[Mascolo's] record of mining success spoke for itself. [Mascolo] achieved that which so many start-up exploration companies aspire to achieve, but few do. He started the company with limited resources and built a West African explorer. After many years of work and leadership, he identified and progressed what is now the world-class Ewoyaa lithium project now set to become Ghana’s first lithium mine,” Herbert commented.

He added that Mascolo’s sector knowledge “was rivalled only by his quick-witted and thoughtful nature. He was widely respected throughout the mining community, on a professional and personal level, as demonstrated by the outpouring of support and messages of condolences we received following his passing. The team remains fully committed to continuing his legacy.”

Atlantic will also be exhibiting at the upcoming Mines and Money London 2022 Conference, which will be taking place between November 29 and December 1, at the Business Design Centre, in London.

Atlantic is an exploration and development company targeting to deliver Ghana’s first lithium mine.
