In recent years, production has been stalled as the quality of ore grades at Antapaccay declined.

The expansion project aims to extend the Antapaccay mine's life by decades by advancing the Coroccohuayco project, which will stretch the life-of-mine to at least 2045.

Copper production, for at least the first ten years of Coroccohuayco's operation, will be about 2 50 000 t/y of copper.
