Diversified miner Anglo American has appointed Ian Tyler nonexecutive director, effective January next year, and as chairperson of both the audit and remuneration committees, effective April next year.

Anne Stevens and Dr Byron Grote will step down as nonexecutive directors in April 2022, having both served for nine years, with Tyler succeeding Stevens as chairperson of the remuneration committee and Grote as chairperson of the audit committee.

Tyler has been chairperson of house-building company Vistry Group since 2013 and also served as nonexecutive director and remuneration chairperson of aerospace company BAE Systems.

He also had an eight-year stint as CEO of global infrastructure company Balfour Beatty.

Anglo chairperson Stuart Chambers says Tyler brings a wealth of boardroom experience spanning various industrial sectors.
