Diversified mining major Anglo American has restarted its field programmes at the Pegasus project, in Ecuador, in which it is earning 60% by spending $57.3-million over seven years.

Anglo’s field team members have been vaccinated against Covid-19, junior Luminex said on Monday, adding that strict Covid protocols had been established.

Anglo was also engaging with local communities in the property area to secure the social licence to drill test multiple copper, gold and molybdenum targets in the second half of next year.

Luminex reported that Anglo American had made its scheduled 2021 cash payment of $500 000, which combined with $12.9-million of cumulative exploration expenditures to date, gave the major a 25% ownership stake in Pegasus A and B.
