JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Platinum producer Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) has called for expressions of interests (EoI) from independent power producers for the supply of electric power for its operations.

The company, which aimed to enter into a long-term power purchase agreement, was seeking service providers to install solar photovoltaic power stations capable of supplying up to 50 MW of energy at a target tariff of less than 100c/kWh.

This was in line with Amplats’ long-standing energy efficiency and conservation plans in response to the increasing risk of electricity supply, rising electricity prices and environmental responsibility.

The EoI would close on May 31 and those selected would be issued with tender documents within a month.
