Warning lights should be flashing across South Africa in light of recent comments made by Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) commander-in-chief Julius Malema. Given Malema’s partiality for the outrageous, many are simply dismissing the “cutting the throat of whiteness” rhetoric as mere political attention seeking in a context where the EFF is running out of ideas. However, the comments, along with Malema’s race-based politicking in Nelson Mandela Bay, are not acceptable and have definitely crossed the line.
