Diversified major Teck Resources has received a strike notice from the United Steelworkers (USW) Local 7619, which represents 1 048 people at the Highland Valley Copper (HVC) operations, in British Columbia.

The earliest that a strike could potentially start is January 16, the miner said on Tuesday.

Teck said that negotiations were ongoing and that the parties were scheduled to meet with the mediators on Friday.

The previous collective agreement at HVC expired on September 30, 2021.
